The digital Hohennagold tour

As one of Nagold's most important attractions and as a supplement to the classic castle tours offered, MAQNIFY was commissioned with the conception of a digital castle tour of Hohennagold.

The medieval ruins of Hohennagold Castle are prominently located above the town of Nagold and are clearly visible from afar. The castle hill can be climbed via various hiking trails through the nature reserve. Once at the top, visitors are rewarded with a fantastic view of the Heckengäu, the Black Forest and, in good weather, the Swabian Alb.

The history of the castle dates back to 500 BC. The new audio tour takes visitors on an exciting journey of discovery through the history of Hohennagold Castle and immerses them in medieval castle life. The castle is open to the public all year round and free of charge.

In consultation between MAQNIFY and the city of Nagold, a total of 13 stations were identified on the grounds of the castle ruins for an audio tour. Judith Bruckner, chairwoman of the Verein für Heimatgeschichte Nagold e.V. (Nagold Local History Society), conceived an entertaining text for each station and MAQNIFY then set it to music with various speakers. Together with impressive visual material from the city of Nagold, showing for example 3D reconstructions of the castle, the contents were then put together to form a tour that now brings the entire castle to life. Whether it's the keep, the tournament garden, the moat, the shield wall, the drawbridge or the main castle: anyone who wants to learn more about these stations can scan the respective QR codes attached to the information boards. All content is available in German and English.
